Books Like Me is a nonprofit that celebrates identity and belonging by donating books with main characters and by authors that are often underrepresented in literature.
We donate to school classrooms and media centers across the U.S.

Our vision is to normalize diversity in literature and produce positive images of all people so we can build a world where our children and their children expect nothing less.
To purposefully supply students, classrooms, and public libraries with culturally relevant children's books to progress diversity and inclusion through literature.
My name is Haili Smith and my sibling, Brooke Smith, are previous students in the Hillsborough County School District. We currently live in the East Bay area of San Francisco.
Our family has had a lot of discussions about what our country goes through in regards to race and inequality. We wanted to figure out what we could do to help. We realized everyone in our family loves to read and we wanted to see more books in our classrooms that we identify with, and just like that Books Like Me Inc was born.
We started by collecting diverse children's book donations from family, friends, and some caring individuals that we’ve never met.
We NEED to be the positive change that we want to see in the world.
We NEED to help make this world a better place for future generations.
