A contagious movement to change the world
Our vision is to normalize diversity in literature and produce positive images of all people so we can build a world where our children and their children expect nothing less.
To purposefully supply school libraries, classrooms, and public libraries with culturally relevant children's books to progress diversity and inclusion through literature.
My name is Haili Smith and I am a 7th Grade student and my sibling, Brooke Smith, is a 5th Grade student in the Hillsborough County School District.
As we grow older, our family has had a lot of discussions about what our country goes through in regards to race and inequality. We wanted to figure out what we could do to help. We realized everyone in our family loves to read and we wanted to see more books in our classrooms that we identify with, and just like that Books Like Me Inc was born.
We started collecting diverse children's book donations from family, friends, and some caring individuals that we’ve never met. In a little over 7 MONTHS we have donated over 1500 books to 110 local schools!
We NEED to be the positive change that we want to see in the world.
We NEED to help make this world a better place for future generations.
